City Receives Grant from State for School Zone Signs!

The City of Connell received a grant from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) to replace the two temporary school zone signs with flashing signs. The signs are programmable and have new features such as a radar driver speed feedback that should help drivers to be aware of their speed while they are in the school zone. The same signs have been used in other areas of the State. The City will also be refreshing the paint at the crosswalk areas of both intersections in front of the school.

We are appreciative that the State awarded Connell a grant so quickly and determined that the safety of our students, teachers and others in the community was a high priority. The City expects the work to be done before school starts in the fall. For questions about school zone signs or other City matters, please call City Hall at 234-2701.
