Code Enforcement Board

The Code Enforcement Board is a five-member volunteer board appointed by the Mayor with City Council approval to oversee and support enforcement of the Connell Municipal Code. Members must reside within city limits, serve two-year terms, and may be removed for inability to perform their duties, loss of residency, neglect of duty, or repeated unexcused absences. The Board’s primary role is to learn and apply municipal code provisions, hear appeals and civil violation cases, determine whether violations have occurred based on the evidence, assess penalties when appropriate, establish hearing procedures, and provide advice on code enforcement matters to City officials and staff. The Board meets as needed for hearings, is supported by the Community Development Manager or designee, and must conduct all meetings in compliance with Washington’s Open Public Meetings Act.
