Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement office was established to work with residents and businesses to keep the City of Connell a clean, safe and healthy place to live and work. If you see a situation you believe may be a code violation, please notify the code enforcement office by submitting a completed Complaint Request Form to Sterling Joyner at City Hall or by e-mail to sjoyner@connellwa.org
The code enforcement office investigates citizen complaints and identifies others through proactive inspections. Some of the most common code violations pertain to weeds, accumulations of waste or garbage materials, blowing dust, obstructions to public rights-of-way, and potential fire hazards.
When valid violations have been identified, the person responsible for the violation (in most cases the property owner) will be sent a Courtesy Notice. The notice will define in detail the violations, what action(s) must be taken for compliance and a time frame for the action(s) to be completed.
If the violations are not corrected in the time given, a Notice of Abatement will be issued again defining in detail the violations, what action(s) must be taken for compliance and a time frame for the action(s) to be completed. If the violation is not corrected within the specified time frame the City is authorized to abate the violation and charge the associated costs to the property owner. In some cases unabated code violations may be turned over to the Connell Police Department and may result in a misdemeanor citation.
