Murals

Local artists have graced the town with a visual feast of wall murals, including:

Mei Ling's Dragon

This mural, which was a 1987 project of the Connell High School Art Club, adorns the south wall of Mei Ling's Family Restaurant located at 627 South Columbia. [Click here to see the mural.]

Where the Wild Things Are

A project of the Mid-Columbia Library District, this mural resides on the north side of the Sunset Theatre in the courtyard behind the Connell Branch Library. Based on the critically acclaimed children's book of the same name, this mural was painted in October 2001 by Bethann Wood, with a great deal of help from a talented group of local children. The Connell Cloudburst

A project of the Downtown Development Group, this mural is based on an historic 1907 photograph of a flood that occurred that August. Mural artist Pat Boyer and assistant Laura Benefiel completed work on the project, with assistance from correction center residents, in September 2005. [Click here to see the mural develop.]

Harvest History

Also a project of the Downtown Development Group, this mural was inspired by a 1928 photograph provided by Feathers Thompson depicting a large team of draft horses hitched to an early harvester. It was designed and painted by mural artist Pat Boyer and completed in September 2006. [Click here to see the mural develop.]

Potato Harvest & The Homesteader

Another project of the Downtown Development Group, these  murals were inspired by photographs provided by local residents Dale Jones and Ted Tschirky.  Both were completed in September 2007 by Pat Boyer. On the old hardware store building she created "Potato Harvest," and over at the Ed Poe Agency stands "The Homesteader." [Click here to see the mural develop.]

City Hall Panels

Also a project of the Downtown Development Group, these 2008 murals were inspired by photographs provided by Darrell Ferguson.  [Click here to see the mural develop.]

Otto Olds Homestead

The fifth mural project of the Downtown Development Group, this 2009 Pat Boyer creation depicts the Olds Family Farm. It's on the wall next to the Connell Pharmacy.  [Click here to see the mural develop.]
