MEETING OF THE CITY OF CONNELL, WASHINGTON

SPECIAL MEETING

 

The Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Connell for water rates and the structure of the rate system was called to order by Mayor Walton at 7:00 p.m. in the Connell City Hall .

 

ROLL CALL

 

PRESENT:       Mayor Gary Walton Councilmembers Ron Boyer, Roel Martinez, Andy Sawyer, Perry Skoglund and Monica Pruett.

 

STAFF:            City Administrator Art Tackett , Chief of Police Rick Rochleau , Public Works Director Pat Munyan , Fire Chief Robert Koch, City Clerk-Treasurer Joan Eckman , and City Attorney Terry Tanner .

 

VISITORS:      Larry Seibel, Anderson Perry

 

ORDER OF BUSINESS

           

WATER RATE STUDY

Mayor Walton noted that the electrical rates would be going up 11.5% at the first of the year.

           

Larry Seibel of Anderson Perry advised that the City needed to generate $875,000 to cover expenditures and provided a proposed rate structure.

 

            Base Rates

            2” meters or less           $12.40/mo

            Apartments                   $  9.40/mo

 

                                               First 1000 CF @ $.68/100 CF = $6.80

                                               Overage @ $.78/100 CF

 

            Lamb Weston               $1,600/mo

                                                           

                                              Overage @ $.52/100 CF

 

City Administrator Tackett noted that Lamb Weston had already projected their rates for the next six months and suggested that the City do a 50% increase in June of 2003 and a 50% increase in January of 2004.

 

Larry Seibel advised that he would look at the numbers and see if a two phase increase would be possible.

There being no further business to be heard before the City Council, Mayor Walton adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
